CIT Anime Society

Our society was founded by Andrew Meany in the year 2003/2004. It started as
a very small society for the first year, but grew to be very popular with
over 40 members in its second year under the guidance of Sinéad O’Connel. It
went from 6 members originally to 40. We have a dedicated fanbase of around
30 people, with new people coming all the time. Apart from the regulars we
get many more casual anime viewers in depending on what we are watching.

We meet once a week for a showing. beforehand we run our Anime Library in
which members have access to our extensive DVD collection. Memberes are
allowed to borrow up to 3 dvds for a week to watch at their leisure free of
charge (unless they are late, at which we charge a euro). As for other
events, we are always up for traveling to any anime con on in the country,
as well as having a hugh meal at the end of the year and heading out to the
cinema every so often.

As for membership anyone who is a student can put their name and number down
on Societies Day at the college and we send them text messages informing
them of showings (time, location etc…) but people are free to come to
showings and use the library whenever they want regardless of signing up.
Members are of course more than welcome to bring friends along or in fact
anyone who may be interested in anime as the showings are not restricted to
cit students only.
