Apparently, the preview was included in the Appleseed EX game, recently released in Japan (The movie sequel may be called Appleseed Ex Machina). John Woo is producing.

I have to say, the first Appleseed was one of the most atrociously overrated anime films I have seen in a while. Utterly devoid of depth.
There is no merit to any claims that it should be viewed through the ever popular rose-tinted glasses of fandom due to the age of the original manga. Regardless of its origin, this is a modern film created in modern times for a modern audience. It should be judged accordingly.
I concur - it was quite pretty (although there were still some pretty jarring animation/CGI boundaries that didn’t work) but there was no depth to it whatsoever. Plus, it had a horribly cliche’d storyline (if this is directly from the manga, that excuses it somewhat; I’ve never managed to read it all)
Can’t really say that I’m looking forward to it - except to say that it may be a somewhat enjoyable action flick
