Rapture TV dropped from Sky Digital line up

In a move stemming from an ongoing legal dispute between Rapture TV and BSkyB Rapture has been dropped from the Sky Digital EPG. A statement from Rapture said

“In September 2006, Rapture TV launched a complaint about BSkyB’s excessive EPG charges with UK TV regulator OFCOM. OFCOM has now determined that BSkyB’s charges are ‘fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory’. Having reviewed the determination, Rapture TV made it clear that it would be looking at lodging an appeal at the Competitions and Appeals Tribunal, as they feel much of the evidence submitted was not taking into account and/or was treated outside the scope.”

“Rapture TV is looking forward to submitting their case to the Competitions and Appeals Tribunal and bringing in more evidence that OFCOM deemed to be out of the scope and expects an outcome that is in line with the evidence supplied.”

The full statement can be seen here. Since it’s re-launch in September 2005 Rapture has devoted prime air time to showing some of the latest anime series such as Fullmetal Alchemist and Wolf’s Rain and it is currently airing Excel Saga.

Hopefully Rapture’s appeal will be sucessful and they will return to the EPG but in the meantime they have provided instructions on how to manually tune the station.

Umai will be unavailable for a while

I, eh, messed up some firewall settings and locked us out of Nirvash, so we need to have our host plug in and do some work, so umai will be unavailable for possibly up to a day.

The rest of the site will remain unaffected.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Licensed?

Anime News Network is currently running a competition to guess the latest new anime license from Geneon USA the clues posted so far and the fact Geneon have registered a Higurashi domain would seem to indicate that ‘Higurashi no Naku Koro ni’, a fan favorite on the Eirtaku forums is the newly licensed title.

In related news Geneon have also registered domains for nanoha, Saiunkoku and Maria-sama which are strong signs that these shows will soon be licensed. However domain registrations have proved false in the past, FUNimation have registered domains for Prince of Tennis and Fafner which later went to Viz and Geneon respectively.
