The Week In Anime
Hey all, to help populate the front page a little I’ve decided to start posting new and information from the world of anime and manga for all those too lazy to look elsewhere! I’m hoping to make this a weekly thing so stay tuned!
First of al to get the ball rolling, the official website for the Complete Collection of Hiroyuki’s Shaman King has already begun posting the manga’s new finale for free. The first chapter was released Friday and this is the one created to be the “true” ending to the story. As could be expected the source site is in Japanese with the possibility of scans emerging soon. The last volume (#27) is set to ship in April in Japan while in America volume 21 was released today. So there is hope for us Shaman King fans yet.
Toei has recently confirmed that the new spring release of “Dragonball Kai” shall be edited. This is mainly so the anime will follow the story of the manga a lot more closely. They are also claiming that this new edit will pick up the pace and be faster than the original, so for all the fans of 3 shows woth of charging up power levels may be a little let down. The anime footage will be enhanced with the latest digital technology. This includes a new full-HD remastering from the film reels of the original run, renewed soundtracks and sound effects, and new dialogue recordings with most of the original cast. The re-airing will launch in Japan on April 5.
A university in japan has declared that it is to open an Anime and Manga museum. Tokyo based Meiji University has reportedly announced plans to convert an un-used high school building into the world’s largest anime and manga museum. The museum will house over 2.5 million manga volumes, magazines, fanzines, videos, toys, figures, and other items, along with screening rooms, library, and possibly also a manga/anime research center open to international scholars. This makes me wish i could jet off to Japan to go study anime for a year. Only in Japan eh?
Bang Zoom! Entertainment has announced its completion of a new English language dub for the 2007 anime film 5 Centimeters Per Second, a film I was raving about on the forums not too long ago. The new English dub stars Johnny Yong Bosch as Takaki, Erika Weinstein as Akari, and Kira Buckland as Kanae. Bang Zoom was commissioned to produce a new English dub for the film by its original Japanese distributor CoMix Wave Films. Sadly we are too late to catch the day of streaming this and Makoto Shinkai’s other works, also dubbed that aired on crunchyroll over the weekend. As to when or if this dub will be made comercially available, details have yet to be released.
Also as a not to anyone living in Cork City, Other Realms are selling off all their anime at 5 euro a disk. I’m personally abusing this great turn of events to purchase some cheap anime movies. Just thought I should let ye know.
To add one last thing, the latest teaser trailer for the upcoming series of FMA
Keep the anime love spreading!

Cyberization, is it that far away?
Cyberization is a fictional portrayal of a brain-computer interface, whereby a normal brain is physically integrated with electronic components to produce an augmented organ referred to as a cyberbrain. The terms were first coined in the anime and manga series Ghost in the Shell.
Cyberbrain implants, in conjunction with micromachines, allow the brain to initiate and maintain a connection to computer networks or other individuals who also possess a cyberbrain. Through the use of a cyberbrain it is possible to have a direct, constant connection between the human brain and the Internet without the need for external devices.
Anime Weekend at the Irish Film Institute March 28th, 29th.
This event offers Irish audiences a rare chance to see four 21st-century anime movies on the big screen, where their artistry can be fully appreciated (Rare indeed, Unless of course you attend Eirtakon). The films are different in style, approach and content, but they represent a snapshot of the current state of this art form. Two supporting lectures provide background and context for the screenings, and opportunities to discuss and ask questions.
2009 Spring Anime Releases
With the Front page being pretty devoid of any updates of Late I thought i’d sign up and post some news on a hopefully regular basis. I though it best to start with a listing of the anime to be Released over the next few weeks as we are lead into the Spring of 2009.
If the release date has been announced i’ve it listed with the rest of the Info. For all the rest expect airing to begin sometime in april or the start of march.
EirtaKon closes pre-reg for 2008
Lots of exciting news these days eh?
EirtaKon has closed registration for the 2008 convention, if you haven’t booked now, you can still pick up your ticket on the day (providing no sort of registration cap is enforced). You may just not get a T-shirt and you’ll have to wait a bit longer.
Roll on EirtaKon!
